Walking riding golf and spotting wildlfe are all popular pastimes here and the Isle the most southerly tip of South West Scotland is steeped in history – St Ninian's Cave is still a place of pilgrimage. Book lovers will head to Wigtown (14 miles). Officially designated as 'Scotland's National Booktown' it boasts over 20 book related business as well as a renowned literary festival.
