The most famous of the nearby landmarks is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, which draws visitors from around the world. Further north, the historic town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed is known as ‘the last town in England’ because of its strategic border position. Alnwick is a short journey southward, famed for its castle and its rich heritage. More recently, the castle has become a must-visit for Potter fans, as it was used as the setting of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Beach 4½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
